Otter Creek Creamery
1896-01-31 - The farmers who are interested in the Otter Creek Creamery Association are hauling lumber to build and ice house on the site of the propsed creamery, near Martin Nelson's place. The creamery itself, we understand, will be built in the near future.
1896-03-20 - The Otter Creek creamery is now nearly completed and will soon be ready for the machinery. It can be easily seen from town.
1896-03-27 - The Otter Creek creamery will be in operation about April 10. Two Alpha No. 1 separators, with a capacity of 2,500 pounds each, are being put in.
1896-04-10 - The Otter Creek creamery started up business this morning and everything worked satisfactory.
1908-12-11 - "Lyle a Hustling Burg" - ...The Creamery located a mile out of town, is another important industry adding to the value of every farm in the neighborhood.
1915-09-10 - "Stockholders Notice" - By order of the stockholders of the Otter Creek Creamery Assn., at the Annual meeting, a special meeting was called... for the purpose of considering whether or not to reorganize said Association. Said organization expires with the present year.
1915-10-15 - "Statement of Condition" ...The charter of the Otter Creek Creamery Association expires January 21, 1916. In consideration thereof, at a meeting of the stock-holders Saturday, October 9th, it was voted to file petition in court, asking that receivers be appointed and the affairs of the Association closed... The stock-holders present also expressed themselves in favor of a new cooperative creamery, and eleven of the number agreed to purchase stock in case such an association is organized. The receivers-elect were instructed that it is the desire of the stock-holders that the business of the Otter Creek Creamery shall be continued until a new one is in active operation, the property of the Otter Creek Association to be disposed of as soon as this is accomplished.
1916-04-21 - "Bids Wanted" Sealed proposals will be received by the Receivers of the old Otter Creek Creamery Association until the hour of 1 P. M. on Monday the 1st day of May, 1916, at the new Creamery Building in Lyle, Minnesota for the following buildings: Residence Building, Main Creamery Building, Boiler Room and Coal Shed, Store Room 8x16, all located on section 31, Nevada township, Mower County, Minnesota...The right is reserved to use the buildings until the 10th day of May 1916.
1916-05-05 - Harry Rohne from near Albert Lea has purchased 50 acres of land from John Bergeson, 1 1/2 miles east of Lyle near the Volstad school house, and bought all the buildings from the Otter Creek Creamery Association and will move them onto the land, which will make him a splendid farm.
1916-07-14 - Mr. Rohne has the Otter Creek Creamery dwelling moved onto his farm, south of K. Volstad's and when he gets the rest of the buildings transferred will have one of the finest little farms in the vicinity.
