Ole Torgeson was born in Flatdahl[illegible:Flatdahl?], Telemarken, Norway, Feb. 16, 1856. He came to the U. S. at the age of 19 has resided in the Lyle community most of his years. He was married to Ingeborg Colbjornson in 1884. Nine children were born to them. He is survived by Mrs George Denisen (Clara) and Mrs Carl Ries (Amanda) of Lyle, Louis and Mrs Clarence Nelson (Millie) of Minneapolis; Thorman of Mott., N. D., Idore of Ketchikan Alaska, and Leonard who is in the U S army air corps. He is also survived by a brother, Ole, of Osage, Iowa; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters, Sophia and Lila.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway and remained in this faith through life.

He had spent the winter at the home of his daughter Mrs Nelson in Minneapolis. During his failing health, he was taken to St. Mary's hospital in Minneapolis where he passed away on March 12, 1943 at 12:20 P M at the age of 87 years and 24 days.

The funeral was held Monday March 15 at the Lyle Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Interment was made at the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr and Mrs Louis Torgeson, Jimmy Torgeson, Mrs Robert Terry, and Mr and Mrs Clarence Nelson of Minneapolis; Thorman Torgeson of Mott N. Dak., Leonard Torgeson of Deming Army Air Base, New Mexico, Mr and Mrs Dean Denison of Caledonia; Mr and Mrs Ole Torgeson of Osage, Iowa; Mr and Mrs Martin Lorenzen of St. Ansgar, Ia., Mr and Mrs Glenn Denison, Audrey Denison, and Mr and Mrs Chester Mathison and Mr and Mrs Carroll Ries of Austin.
