Ole A. Olson Funeral Held In Austin

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 25 for a former Lyle area man, Ole A. Olson of Austin, Minn. at St. Olaf Lutheran church in Austin with the Rev. Melvin Hauge officiating. Interment was in Woodbury cemetery west of Lyle.

Ole A. Olson, eldest son of Andrew and Anna (Adamson) Olson was born at Northwood, Iowa July 31, 1886. He was confirmed at the age of fifteen in the Lutheran faith at Northwood.

As a young man he came to the Lyle and London vicinity where he was employed as a laborer on various farms and also at the Lyle Tow Mill. On January 14, 1914 he was united in marriage to Gertrude A. Bedford at the Bedford homestead in Lyle township. They established their home on a farm near London which was his occupation until he moved to Austin in March 1942 and was employed there for Geo. A. Hormel Co. until his retirement January 29, 1959.

He had been in failing health for about four years, but died quite suddenly March 23.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; a daughter Mrs. Jens (Elizabeth) Larson of Austin; a grandson, David Ames of Minneapolis; a step; grandson, Vernon Ames of Austin; a step granddaughter Mrs. Jerome (Mary June) Gerhart of Brownsdale and nine great grandchildren. Also three sisters, Mrs. Ova (Lizzie) Throne; Mrs. Chris (Sophie) Geiger, both of Albert Lea and Mrs. William (Amanda) Thrasher of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert, Melvin and Theodore Olson.
