THE OBITUARY OF MRS. G. O. BLAKESTAD

Mrs. Ingeborg Jeglum-Blakestad was born Oct. 11, 1853, in Allamakee county, Iowa, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Here she remained until womanhood when she came to Otranto, Mitchell county, where she was united in marriage to Gullick O. Blakestad in July 1st, 1875, by Rev. Olson of St. Ansgar. They made their home at the Blakestad homestead where she resided continuously until her death.

It was on march 11th, 1926, that she had the misfortune to suffer a fractured hip and in spite of the best of care and medical attention she never recovered but was confined to her bed until the end when she slept peacefully away on Monday, Aug. 29, 1927, at 5 p. m. at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 18 days.

Following the hours of cheer brot to her constantly by her many friends and relatives were other hours spent in quiet reflection and reading of her Bible which seemed to sustain her in her moments of greatest pain and which also increased her desire to meet her Saviour and the loved ones that had preceded her.

As a kind and loving mother she leaves to mourn her loss a daughter Laura Buringrud who cared for her in her illness and a son, Otto Blakestad, who resides on the Blakestad farm, besides six grandchildren and two great grandchildren and three brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Odegaard of Oslo, Minn.; Mrs. R. O. Anderson of Austin, Minn.; Mr. Halvor Larson of Hanlontown, Iowa; Mr. Lewis Jeglum of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. Carl Jeglem of Estherville, Iowa; Mrs. Knut Gilbertson of Kensett, Iowa. Her husband and a daughter Sophia preceded her to their final home in 1905 and 1899, respectively.

Funeral services were held at Our Saviour's Lutheran church of Mona at two o'clock Friday. The remains were laid to rest at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
