Obituary of Mrs. Johnson.

Mrs. Martin Johnson Nesset died at her home five miles North of St. Ansgar at four o'clock, Saturday afternoon, December 17, 1910, of dropsy after an illness of five months. The shock of the sudden death of her granddaughter, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Hanson last May seemed to bring on the sickness that caused that death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Esser, at the Norwegian Lutheran church at Mona, Wednesday, December, 21, and her remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gunder Erickson and was born at Solor Norway, July 11, 1840. January 1, 1864 she was married to Martin Johnson. During that year they came America and stopped at Madison, Wisconsin, one year after which they moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, and settled on the homestead where they lived until her death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were born 13 children of whom 11 are living. They are as follows: Ole M. M. Johnson who lives on the homestead, Julius M. Johnson of Dogden, N. D., Mrs. Chas. Kittleson of St. Ansgar, Mathilda at home, Gustav Johnson of Black Duck, Minn., Mrs. Eddie Hanson and Mrs. Magnus Hanson of Murdock, Minn., Mrs. Henry Hanson of Wilbaux, Mont., Mrs. Melvin Frank of Bergen, N. D., Mrs. Helmer Hanson of St. Ansgar, and George M. Johnson who lives near Mona. There are also 26 grandchildren. Two brothers are living, John Gunderson of St. Ansgar and Erick Gunderson of Sheldon, N. D.

The children were present except Gust., Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Magnus Hanson who were detained at their homes on account of sickness in their families.
