Funeral services for Mrs. Mina O. Nelson, 84, who died Tuesday morning, March 22 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, were held Friday, March 25 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.
Mina Otilda Larson, daughter of John and Martha Larson, was born December 13, 1881 in Otranto township near Mona. She was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church where she was a faithful life long member. She was a member of the Mona Ladies Aid, and held various offices in the Aid. She attended the public school at Mona.
On September 17, 1901 she was united in marriage to Peter Nelson at Mona Lutheran church by Rev. Mueller Eggen. They established their home near both of their birthplaces, and she had resided there ever since. Five children were born to this union.
Mrs. Nelson's health had been failing for several years, and she had spent most of the last two years confined to her bed. During this time she never lost interest in the things around her. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends, and appreciated it each time friends came to visit. She died at the age of 84 years, three months, nine days.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her daughter, Helen, who has always made her home with her mother and one sister, Mrs. Newton (Edna) Bigelow of Albert Lea; six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph (Violet) Haugland, Mrs. Adolph (Marion) Jahr, two sons, Harris and Willis who died in infancy; also four brothers, Ole, Alfred, George and Lewis; two sisters, Mrs. Oliver (Emma) Dock and Mrs. Carl (Hattie) Peterson.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery with Rev. Klemesrud in charge of the committal services.
