Mrs. Delia Howard Funeral Held June 4 At Austin

A former Lyle and Otranto area woman, Mrs. Delia Howard 84, died June 1 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. And funeral services were held Saturday, June 4 at Christ Episcopal church, Austin, with the Rev. T. J. Williams officiating. Interment was in the Woodbury cemetery.

Delia Gleason, daughter of Frank and Hattie Gleason, was born May 12, 1882 in Mitchell County near Grafton where she grew to womanhood and attended the Otranto school. She also received her training as a registered nurse in Rochester and practiced in the Osage and Lyle areas.
Following her marriage to Charles Howard of Lyle they lived in Lyle and Otranto where her husband died.
Survivors are her son, Col. W.A. Wood of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., seven grand-children, and many nieces and nephews in this area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, and an infant son, Edison; two brothers, Rov. Gleason, Lyle and Walter Gleason of Cresco.

Pallbearers were Loy G. Howard, Carroll Howard, Charley Howard, George DeVore, Robert Gleason and Ray Whitmore.
Relatives came from North St. Paul, Minneapolis, Albert Lea, Grand Meadow, Glenville and Austin, Minn; and Northwood, St. Ansgar, Ridgeway and Otranto.
