1943-10-01 - "Mona Store Burned" - The destruction and havoc a fire can cause in a very short time was demonstrated Wednesday morning when the store building and contents belonging to Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Horstman, at Mona, was burned, destroying their thriving business and home. The fire started about 8 o'clock when Mrs. Horstman lighted an oil heater. 1943-12-31 - The Mona store is about to reopen in its new location on the lot formerly occupied by the Strand service station, and later owned by N. T. Fortun. Mr. Horstman purchased the lot, and faced the store north along the highway where it is thought it will be more convenient for the patrons. Mr. Horstman did a thriving business before the fire, which destroyed building and contents and no doubt will continue to serve the public as formerly.
1945-02-16 - O. A. Hagen of Austin has taken charge of the Mona store which he purchased the first of the month.

Harrington, proprietors of the Mona Grocery have sold their business to Carl Whistler of Crookston, Minn. Possession will be given April 1 when the Harrington family will leave for Austin, Texas to make their new home.
1953-07-02 - St. Ansgar Enterprise - "Mona Grocery Sold to Olven Nelson" - Harrington Family Moving to Austin. Announcement was made Tuesday morning that Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Harrington have sold their grocery store at Mona to Olven Nelson of Mona. The new owners will take possession today, July 1. The former owners have operated the store for the past five and one half years and will now move to Austin. The Nelsons will move into living quarters to the rear of the store building.

1957-07-04 - St. Ansgar Enterprise - "Ryerson to Operate Mona Grocery Store" - Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ryerson, who reside directly west of Mona, have sold their 80-acre farm to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Strouf of Mona with possession to be given Sept. 1. Both Ryerson and Strouf are employed at Hormel's in Austin. Mr. Ryerson will discontinue his work at Hormel's and in September will take over the operation of the Mona Grocery store which building he owns. Its present proprietor, Mrs. Adeline Geffert, has no definite plans at present. The Ryersons operated a grocery store at Hayward, Minn., about 18 years ago before moving to Austin for a few years, then moving to Mona when they purchased their from from Odin Soroese.
1958-03-06 - St. Ansgar Enterprise - "Ryersons Sell Mona Grocery to Mrs. Geffert" - The Mona Grocery store changed hands last week when Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ryerson sold their store and grocery stock to Mrs. Adeline Geffert. The Ryersons, who only last September 1st bought out the stock from Mrs. Geffert, have bought the Silver Lake Grocery at Silver Lake, Iowa, and will take possession April 1. The Ryersons are building living quarters there before they make the move. Mr. and Mrs. Ryerson have lived in the Mona community for the past 12 years and came to Mona from Austin.
1972-11-16 - St. Ansgar Enterprise - Workmen tore down the living quarters of Mrs. Adeline Geffert at the Mona Grocery last week and Monday began a new foundation for a new home. Harlan Rohne of London is the carpenter.
