Melvin C. Martin Funeral Held Sunday, February 16

Funeral services for life long Nevada township man, Melvin C. Martin, 78, who died February 13 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, were held Sunday, February 16 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. E. Unseth officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Melvin Chester Martin, son of Andrew and Julia (Enerson) Martin, was born in Nevada township August 30, 1896.

He was baptized and confirmed at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church where he remained a lifelong member. He attended school at the rural Pinehurst grade school.

On May 31, 1921 he was married to Eva Fossey and they established their home on the family farm which was his home until his death. Three children were born to this union.

He was an active member of Six Mile Grove church and held offices in numerous community and civic affairs until his health failed.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Oscar (Helen) Palenyk of Mason City; two sons, Andrew of Lyle and Lee of Austin, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Thea Austinson of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; one sister, Mrs. Olavus (Alma) Meyer and two brothers, Philip and Gilbert Martin.
