OBITUARY

Mark D. McConnell died at his home five miles west of Lyle Sunday, Jan. 7th at 4:15 p. m. having been in feeble health for some years.

Mark D. McConnell was born Jan. 6th, 1834 at Elmira, Cheming County, New York.

In his early youth he moved with his parents to Rockton, Illinois where he had a position as school teacher. About that time he united with the Congregational church of that place.

In Sept. 1853 he was married to Miss Mary B. Beacher, of Rockton, who died in 1857. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Melva B. Anderson, now of Lyle.

Soon after his wife's death he moved to southern Wisconsin where he made his home for several years.

In Sept. 1862 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary C. Tuttle of Shopiere, Wisconsin.

After his marriage he moved to Mc Gregor, Iowa and later to Mitchell County, Iowa making his home in Mitchell and Floyd counties until 1892 when he moved on to the farm 5 miles west of Lyle where he passed away Jan. 7th at the age of 78 years and one day.

To his later union were born two children: Johnny, who died in childhood and Myrtle Zella who died several years ago.

Those who remain to mourn his loss are, his wife, his daughter Melva three grandchildren, Mrs. Susie Thrasher, Miss Leffie Anderson and Howard Harrison also one sister Mrs. Emma Mellen of Rockton, Illinois.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. G. Washington at the home at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in Woodbury cemetery.
