The Silver Saddle, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Don Olson and Mrs. Betty Shaw, hosted the 1981 Lyle segment of the Eagles Cancer Telethon, January 31 and February 1.

Bands donating time Saturday night, January 31 through Sunday afternoon were, Northern Cowboys, Red Walsh, Scandinavians, Beacon and Ridin' High.

Lunches were served by the Lioness group Saturday night and Mrs. Jaycees Sunday Ken Bauer donated time as auctioneer for tables laden with donated items by businesses as well as individuals not only in Lyle, but the surrounding area towns. Randy Krulish was the announcer.

Lyle high school students gave skits and cheers Sunday afternoon, donating their time briefly. Some of the students who participated were: Hollie Hueman, Kim Reuter, Gayle Tufte, Becky Ginder, Donna Anzenauer, Tracy Murphy, Melody Meidt, Erin Carroll, Barb Johnson, Sandra Sola, Sue [illegible:Riecke?], Troy Murphy, Duane Olson, Chris Douglas, Allen Madson, Denise Hansen, and Dennis Riecke.

There were also drawings on numerous prizes and winners were as follows a 40 pound hog, each won by Vernon Ginder and Jim Lastine, donated by Roger Trentin, Lyle, a one week vacation at White Pine Resort, Bemidji, won by Bob Fisher, donated by Duane Enerson's, owner-managers, a 1971 Plymouth Fury car, won by Mrs. Donna Heneman, donated by Jim Leeban's Fordtown, Austin; a ceramic eagle won by Gary Harrison.

A total of $7,087.85 was raised at the Lyle Eagle Cancer Telethon.
