Lawrence Wayne Guild, 80 of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Austin.

Lawrence was born May 15, 1933, in Austin, the son of Clarence and Esther (Corwin) Guild. He graduated from Austin High School and from Riverland Community College with an associate’s degree. Lawrence served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Shirley Johnson on June 14, 1956, in Austin.

Lawrence worked as a printer operator at the Weyerhaeuser Plant in Austin for 38 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Lawrence enjoyed doing carpentry and he was a naturalist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Esther and Minnie, brothers Ralph, Calvin and two infant brothers.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Shirley Guild, of Austin; daughters: Laura Guild, of Elysian, Minn.; Dorothy Guild-Canfield, of St. Paul, Minn.; son and daughter-in-law: John and Jennifer Guild, of Hastings, Minn.; grandsons: Daniel and Nolan Guild; brother: Henry Guild, of Aitkin, Minn.; sisters: Alice Meppen, of St. Paul; Ida (Charles) Jahren, of Austin; Evelyn (C.J.) Richards, of West Monroe, La.; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with The Rev. Marilee A. Benson officiating. Interment will be at Cedar City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the mortuary from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
