Funeral services for Laurence Leo Murphy, 60, were held at 9 15 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at St. Augustine church in Austin, Minn. with the Rev. John Tighe officiating. Interment was in Calvary cemetery at Austin. Mayer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Laurence L. Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Murphy, was born October 31, 1904 at Lyle. He attended the Lyle Public and Lyle High school from where he graduated. He lived his entire life in the Lyle area, where he farmed until 1962 when he moved to Lyle and was Acting Postmaster until October 1964.

He was a member of Holy Name Society of Queen of Peace church in Lyle, also the Lyle Lions Club.

He is survived by two brothers, Francis (Pat) Murphy of Lyle, now residing at Sacred Heart Hospice in Austin, Minn. and Emmett L. Murphy also of Austin; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Harter, Stetsonville, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William (Bill) Murphy and two sisters, Mrs. Nels (Hazel) Sorenson and Mrs. Harry (Ellen) Ytzen.

Pallbearers were Webster Johnson, C. Joe Gislason, Travis Haakenson, John Walsh, Dean Murphy and Earl Callahan.

W. Brennan, all of Rochester; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Callahan, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Callahan, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Neilson and Mr. and Mrs. John Reiter Jr., all of Minneapolis; Mrs. Catherine Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ryan and Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Ryan, all of Harmony; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ytzen, Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Muriel Ytzen, Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Decklever, Osage; and Miss Mercedes Ryan of Mason City.
