Carl M. Hanson, 79

Funeral services for Carl M. Hanson, 79, who died Thursday, July 12 after a lingering illness, were held Sunday, July 15 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanford Stenson officiating.

Carl Marius Hanson was born in Mitchell county March 1, 1877, the son of Martin and Karen Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Mona church during his entire life.

Mr. Hanson grew to manhood in the Lyle community and farmed there until his health failed. Eight years ago he moved with his daughter and her family to Austin.

On January 1, 1905 he was married to Annie Neverset at Mona, Iowa by the Rev. D. A. Dietrichson. To this union one daughter was born, Genevieve, (Mrs. Raymond Nelson) who has faithfully cared for him during his 14 years of illness.

Besides his wife and daughter Mr. Hanson is survived by two grandchildren, Robert of Lyle and Iris Nelson of Austin; also two great grandchildren, Debra Ann and Jeffrey Robert Nelson; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Olson of Mankato, Minn.; one brother, Magnus of Lyle, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, one sister, Bertha, two brothers, John and Eddie, preceded him in death.

Burial was in the family lot of the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Out-of-town people at the funeral were Mrs. Carrie Olson and Mrs. Marion Wynia of Mankato; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Frese of St. Paul; Karen Olson of Los Angeles, Calif.; Lydia B. Johnson of Buxton, North Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hanson of Plymouth, Iowa; Mrs. John Kohoutek of Mason City; Mrs. Stella Wahl and Mrs. Olive Howe of Osage, and numerous relatives and friends from St. Ansgar; Adams, Carpenter and Lyle.
