MONA LAST MONDAY

John J. Hanson was born Aug. 28th, 1860 at Grue Solor, Norway; and emigrated to this country at the age 13 years. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. John Olson at St. Ansgar, Iowa. On Dec. 28, 1887 he was united in marriage to Olivia Larson.

To this union nine children were born. One daughter died in infancy. He is survived by his widow and eight children. Five sons, Julius of Plymouth, Henry of Des Moines, Edward of Cedar Rapids, Martin of Manly, Albert of Northwood and three daughters, Mrs Arthur J. Elke of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs. Vernon Burns of Austin, Minn., and Mrs Otto Brunsvold of Kensett and eighteen grandchildren.

Mr Hanson spent 45 years on his farm one mile east of Otranto, retiring to Plymouth in October 1929 where the remaining years of his life were spent.

He has been in failing health the past several years and passed away at his home on Saturday morning, July 3rd.

Funeral services were held at the Mona church last Monday at 2:30 P M, Rev O M Langehough officiating.
