Irene Martha Aanonson, 76, of Rose Creek, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center, Austin.

Irene was born Aug. 28, 1924, near Grafton, Iowa, the daughter of Ervin and Edna (Wilde) Walk. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church near Grafton. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to a farm near Lyle. On Mother's Day, May 9, 1943, she married Glen A. Aanonson at the Lutheran parsonage in Lyle. They have lived on the family farm for more than 57 years near Rose Creek. She was a member of the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, Lyle; where she was active in WELCA, Dorcus Circle and was a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Glen A. Aanonson, Rose Creek; sons and daughters-in-law, Leland Aanonson, Rose Creek, Larry (Lynette) Aanonson, Lyle; two grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Lyle Hanson, Blooming Prairie, aunts, Viola Wilde, Grafton, Iowa, Leona Foley, Northwood, Iowa; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosella Gerber, Austin, Beverly and John Aanonson, Lyle; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Walter, Melvin and Lawrence.

Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Russ Wangen and the Rev. Einar Unseth officiating.
Interment: Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary bearers: Duane Gerber, Darrell Hinsman. Casket bearers Jeff Orth, Jamie Hanson, Huey Helder, Steve Heller, Craig Murphy and Gerald Sampson.
Visitation: Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and on for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
