Obituary

Hans Lasten was born April 9, 1883 and died Wednesday noon at 12 o'clock at his home in Mitchell County, Iowa, from an ailment of four years standing.

During the illness he bore his sufferings with patience and Christian resignation. He was tenderly cared for by willing hands and loving hearts. He united with the Lutheran church early in life and was ever loyal and devoted in his service, adorning his profession by a well ordered life.

Death was no welcome guest to Mr. Lasten. He loved life and fought hard for the renewal of his health. His death, while expected, was a shock to his friends, of whom he had a large number. He was a cheerful and happy companion, and even when he knew that hw as at death's door, maintained his cheerfulness.

Rev. Esser had charge of the funeral services, held in the Six Mile Grove church last Saturday, and preached a very touching sermon, using both the English and Norwegian languages, to one of the largest audiences gathered at the church for some time.

The coffin was hidden by a bank of beautiful flowers, tributes to the pure loving character of the deceased, who leaves a mother, two sisters and four brothers. The choir sang two beautiful songs and Mrs. Ed Hofland sang a solo, "I am Going Home," which was one of Hans' favorite songs.

He was laid to rest in the Six Mile Grove cemetery, beside his father who died nearly 7 years ago. "Sleep on, dear Brother, take thy rest; God called thee home,. He thot it best."
