Evelyn Nelson Funeral November 17

Funeral services for Evelyn Nelson, 83, formerly of Lime Springs, who died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, were held November 17, 2004.

Evelyn was born November 19, 1920 to Otto II and Alvina E (Walk) Braun. She was baptized and confirmed at Grafton Lutheran Church and attended grade school in the Grafton area, worked for local people and in 1941 boarded a train for California and married Clifford M. Nelson on December 31, 1941 at the Little Brown Church around the corner in Inglewood, California.

After the war, they returned to Iowa and engaged in farming in rural Mason City, LeRoy, Minnesota, and Lime Springs. Upon retiring, they moved to Lime Springs. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting, painting, church and circle. She suffered a stroke in 1998 and resided at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Evelyn is survived by four children: Duane R. (Kathy) Nelson of Hartsville, SC; Myra E (Duaine) Dierks of St. Ansgar; Delores "Lori" A. (Gene) Prawska of Cresco; and Marland C. (Kay) Nelson of Garden City, KS; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, one brother, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, three sisters, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law.

Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery
