(8) Hofland, Elmer Alfred. Born June 12, 1888, Lyle, Minnesota. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver A. Hofland, Lyle. Occupation, farming. Residence, Vida, Montana. Entered service Sept. 18, 1917, at Camp Lewis. Assigned to Headquarters Co., 362nd Reg., 91st Div. Trained at Camp Lewis, and Camp Merritt. Promoted to corporal. Embarked from Long Island, July 4, and arrived at South Hampton. Went into active service Sept. 2, at Isen Besigny. Participated in battles at St. Mihiell, and the Argonne Forest. Wounded Sept. 29. Under medical care from Sept. to Dec. 20 at Base Hospital No. 50, where he died.
