Edna Claudina Hofland Volstad was born Nov. 11, 1898, to [illegible: Iver?] and Christina Hofland in Mitchell County, Iowa. She passed away following a lingering illness, Jan. 15, at the age of 61 years, [illegible: 2?] months, 4 days.

She was baptized and confirmed at Mona Lutheran Church. She attended school in Mona and spent her childhood on a farm near there. She was united in marriage to Victor Volstad, June 24, 1925. To this union were born three children, Victor Jr., Vernon, Carolyn.

The first years of their marriage were spent in Austin and since, 1931 they resided in Lyle.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She possessed a strong Christian faith which sustained her throughout her illness and she lived in the hope of obtaining eternal life. The church meant a great deal to her and she was a faithful church worker until illness prevented her from taking an active part in it.

She was a loving wife and mother and her kind and gentle disposition endeared her to all. She is survived by her husband, Victor; two sons, Victor Jr., of Guttenberg, Iowa and Vernon of St. Paul: a daughter, Carolyn of Harmony; a granddaughter, Victoria Lynne; two brothers, Bert Hofland, Lyle Jewett Hofland, Circle, Mont.; three sisters, Lyla (Mrs. Arnold Enerson), Rose Creek, Mrs. Millie Groth, Enderlin, N. D., and Mrs. Nettie Nelson, Vida, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Elmer and a sister, Verna.

Blessed be her memory.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at 2 p. m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona. Pallbearers were Irvin Groth, Arthur Jahr, Everett Hofland, Ira Hofland, Vernon Nelson, Nieles Nelson.
