OBITUARY

Mr. Eberhart Johnson passed away at his home, three miles southwest of Lyle, Saturday noon, of pneumonia at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 10 days.

He had been in good health until two weeks previous when he was taken ill with a cold. He was confined to his bed only five days.

He was born in Grue Solor, Norway December 23, 1855, and was baptized and confirmed at the same place.

In 1881, he came to America, and in 1883 was united in marriage to Alette Guderson Berg, who preceded him in death eight years ago. To this union were born nine children, two of whom died in infancy. Those left to mourn his death are Edwin of Des Moines, John of Minneapolis. Mrs. Will Kilgore of Austin, Mrs. Carrie Nelson, Mrs. Mina Kilgore, Mrs. Gilbert Carlson, and Julia, all of Lyle also a brother, John of Forman, N. Dakota, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson has always lived in Otranto township and for the past 48 years has resided at the same place. He was a true and faithful member of the church, also a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by all, especially by Mr. and Mrs. Carlson, with whom he has made his home for the past 15 years.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved it stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in His Wisdom has recalled
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in Heaven.
