Mrs. Trena Ashley, a life long resident of this vicinity was born Dec. 11, 1869 and was the youngest daughter of Tarje and Liv Guttorm son. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Ladies Aid of Six Mile Grove church, near Lyle.

On October 24, 1890 she was united in marriage to Hans Ashley, by her brother, the late Rev. O. T. Lee and moved to her husband's farm, which joined the farm of her father's and her birthplace. To this union seven children were born, and all are living. They are Mrs. Josie Bartel, Austin; (Sadie) Mrs Hanson, Rose Creek. There are five sons, Arthur and Lawrence, Austin; Casper of Lyle and Gustave of Albert Lea and Hamlin at home. Fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and also an older brother, Rev. G. T. Lee of Minneapolis survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, on Jan. 20, 1930.

She passed away Wed. Jan. 3, at 2:30 p. m. at the age of 81 years, three weeks, and two days following a long illness. She was confirmed to her home the past month.

She was a kind loving and true mother, and will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 at the home; and 2 p. m. at Six Mile Grove church. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the church cemetery. The Rev. S. Gjervik officiated.
