CHRISTINA ERICKSON HOFLAND

Christina Erickson Hofland, third daughter of Erick and Gertrude Erickson was born in Mitchell Co., Iowa June 16, 1867, and passed away Wednesday November 25th about 6:30 A M, at the age of 69 years 5 months and 8 days. She was baptized in infancy by Rev. Clausen, and confirmed by Rev. Olson of St. Ansgar. In 1888 she was united in marriage to Iver Hofland who preceded her in death 14 months ago. They made their home on a farm in Mitchell County until 1920, when the family moved to Lyle where she made her home until her death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Hofland, eight children were born, six whom survive: (Millie) Mrs. Archie Groth, Enderlin N. D.; (Jewett) of Circle, Mont. Bert and (Edna) Mrs. Victor Volstad of Lyle; Mrs. Arnold Enerson, Rose Creek Minn,; 2 sisters, Mrs. J A Thorstad, Thief River Falls, Minn. and Mrs. J I Johnson of Lyle; also 22 grand children and 1 great grand child. She was preceded in death by 2 children: Elmer, a world war veteran died in France in 1918, and Verna in 1930. The deceased was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her home and children, sacrificing all for her dear ones. She will be greatly missed by those who were near and dear to her. She had not been well the past year but complained little, and her death came as a great shock. She went to rest in the evening, never again to awaken on his earth.
