Another old pioneer, C. M. Nelson, passed away at his home southwest of Mona, Tuesday morning, the immediate cause of his death being pneumonia. Mr. Nelson reached a ripe old age and was unusually active and robust for one of his years.

Christen M. Nelson was born in Snade, Langeland, Denmark, Jan. 21, 1842, and was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church. In 1868 he was united in marriage to Marion Hanson and in 1872 they immigrated to America and settled on the homestead where he lived until his death. To this union were born 9 children. Christian, Mads, Peter, Fred, Chris and Henry, who survive the father, and Tillie, Anna, and Julia who passed away. The wife, Marian Nelson died Sept. 21, 1892.

On Oct. 1, 1902 Mr. Nelson was married to Mrs. Hannah Kelson, who survives him. To them were born 5 children, Jens, Julia, Daisy, Harris and Clair.

A private funeral was held at the home Thursday morning at 9:30 and the remains were laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Rev. Storaasli had charge of the service. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd French of Austin and Miss Janet Keldsen of Faribault were here to attend the funeral.
