Chelsey Amber Morgan, 16

Chelsey Amber Morgan, 16, of Lyle, Minnesota, died Aug. 20, 2014, in Lyle, Minnesota.

Chelsey was born Jan. 21, 1998, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Dennis and Terri (Henry) Morgan. She attended elementary school in Lime Springs, Iowa. When Chelsey was in sixth grade, the family moved to Lyle, Minnesota.

While living in Lime Springs she attended the Lime Springs Methodist Church. Chelsey was a member of the Children’s Theater Troop, helped with vacation bible school, and was Miss Sweet Corn in 2009. She participated in many activities including Tae-Kwon-Do, softball, swimming, go-carting, Girl Scouts, and roller skating, but her biggest passion was the theater. While in Lyle, she participated in softball, basketball, choir, school newspaper, and FFA. She also took many leadership roles: she coordinated a scrap metal drive, was elected school board student representative and student council representative, volunteered for a food drive and Cure for Cancer, and placed at state FFA Creed Speaking. She loved the Steelers and was a proud Athletics. True to her loving nature and wanting to make a difference, she recently returned from a mission trip to aid Superstorm Sandy victims.

She will be forever remembered for her bright smile, fun-loving, bubbly personality, caring nature, and determination. Her faith was important to her. Her friends were as well, as she constantly kept in touch through texting. If she believed in something, she fought for it, such as her drive to keep and expand FFA at her school. She was a humanitarian, but most importantly she was a loving big sister, daughter, and friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Florence Dobson; her grandfathers Albert Morgan and Robert Henry; an uncle Craig Henry; and her cat Lucky.

She is survived by her parents Dennis Morgan and Terri Morgan; three brothers Dominic, Michael and Braxton; and maternal and paternal grandparents Janet Henry and Randy and Ron Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Lime Springs United Methodist Church in Lime Springs, Iowa, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, with the Rev. Melanie Greengo officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs. Friends may call at the church on Monday during the hours of 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
