At his home in Lyle township, three miles south of Enterprise, Wednesday evening, Jan. 30, 1901, after a brief illness, Carl Schlundt, aged 77 years.

He was born in Germany and just before the war of the rebellion he came to this country, settling at West Bend, Wis. In 1878, he came to Lyle township, where he has since resided.

He was a man of upright character and kindly disposed to all. He leaves a widow and five children: Charles in Montana; Mrs. Amelia Rice of Mona; Mrs. Bertha Beach, Newport, Neb.; William at home; and Miss Hannah in Chicago. There are also two step-daughters of deceased: Mrs. Minnie Taves of Glenville and Miss Lena at home.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. C. D. Belden of this city, were held at Enterprise school house Friday afternoon. Interment at Enterprise.
