Carl William Ries, son of Mr and Mrs John Ries, was born in Mower County, Minnesota, January 5, 1884. He was married to Amanda Torgeson in 1912 and to them were born 2 children: Carroll and Phyllis.

For the past 38 years he had been an employee of the Illinois Central Railroad Co.

After an illness of several weeks, he passed away on Nov. 28 in Naeve hospital, in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Mr Ries was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter, one brother and two sisters also survive; Albert of Mason City, Iowa; Rose of Long Beach, Calif; Ida of Tacoma, Wash.

Mr Ries is also survived by two granddaughters, Bonnie and Carole.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2 at the Lyle Lutheran church, Rev. O. T. Boe conducting the services.

Carl was a lover of his home, and worked early and late to beautify the surroundings. He was faithful to his tasks, regular as a clock. Lyle will never be quite the same without this representative of the I C Railroad.
