Funeral services for Carl O. Haas, 69, a Lyle area farmer, were held Tuesday, February 22 at Our Savior's Lutheran in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona.

Mr. Haas died at St. Olaf hospital in Austin, February 19 following a two years illness.

Carl Oliver Haas, the son of Ole and Bertha Haas, was born January 17, 1897 at Waukon. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his early education in Iowa. At the age of 15, in 1912, he and his parents moved to Lyle where he has been a resident the past 54 years.

On February 21, 1914 he was married to Clara Helgeson in the Lyle Lutheran parsonage. He was engaged in farming all his life northeast of Lyle until his health failed.

He was a member of the KP Lodge, the Farmers Union and the farm Bureau and was active on the Lyle Center school board.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, two sons, Lavern Haas of Lyle and Orin Haas of Freemont, Neb.; one daughter Mrs. Wallace (Delores) Kaihoi of Minneapolis; one granddaughter, Linda Haas, Lyle; one brother, Olger Haas of Lansing, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Emma) Gjefle, Waukon; and Mrs. Don (Clara) Henley of Brawley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Theodore.

Pallbearers were Walter Denisen, Clarence Walsh, Nyles Pederson, Frank Duerst, Harvey Goetsch and Rufus Rawn.

Relatives attending the funeral from out of town came from Brawley, Calif,; St. Cloud, Taopi, Albert lea, Minneapolis, London and Austin and Rose Creek, Minnesota and Waukon, Northwood, Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Carpenter, Iowa.
