Funeral services for Bert Swenson, 71, were held at Mona Lutheran church, Thursday, March 9 with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona.

Mr. Swenson died at Memorial hospital in Osage Monday, March 6.

Joseph Bernhard Swenson (always known as Bert) was born to William and Bertha Swenson, August 23, 1889 at Boscobel, Wisconsin. He and his parents came to Mower county in 1896 and settled on a farm west of Lyle.

He served in World War I, and was engaged in farming until 1958. The family home was sold and he moved to Mona where he resided until last fall when his health was failing and he went to make his home at the Osage Nursing Home.

He was confirmed in the Lyle Lutheran church where he was a member until he moved to Mona and transferred his membership there.

Surviving are one brother, Wilmer of West Concord, Minnesota and one sister Mrs. Josephine Hovin of Brookfield, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
