WAS OLDEST RESIDENT
OF LYLE COMMUNITY

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Bernhardt H. Anderson, the oldest resident of this community, in Our Savior's Lutheran church last Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Anderson had been sick for only one week before he passed away at St. Olaf hospital in Austin on Monday morning, Nov. 19.

Mr. Anderson was born on August 10, 1854, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Anderson. He was the first white child born in Otranto township, Mitchell county, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and has been life-long member of the congregations of the Trinity Parish. He spent most of his life farming in this community except for his last years when he has lived here in Lyle with his sister.

He is survived by one sister, Mina Anderson, and his brother, Nils Anderson of Lyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, six sisters, two half brothers and one half sister.

Committal services were conducted at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
