Austin: Lyle teen-ager convicted in teacher's death files appeal

The attorney for a Lyle, Minn., teen-ager convicted in the shooting death of school teacher Sharon Turnbull has filed an appeal in Mower County Court. Defense attorney Bruce Hanley of Minneapolis filed the appeal Tuesday on behalf of his client, whose name has not been made public.

The 14-year-old boy was found delinquent last month in the Aug. 6 shooting death of Turnbull, who was found dead in her Lyle home. Olmsted County Judge Harold Krieger ordered the boy committed to the custody of the Minnesota Corrections Commissioner for an indefinite term.

Court officials say no date has been set to hear the appeal.
