OBITUARY

Mrs. Anne Steene, daughter os Kjirsti and Harold Ausland, was born in Gjerestad, Norway May 18 1852 and passed away at her home near Lyle, May 19th 1937; having reached her 85th birthday on the day previous to her death.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway.

On July 9, 1880 she was united in marriage to Jens Steene. Seven children were born to them, of who one son, Halvor passed away at Rochester, Minn. Dec. 6th 1919. Mr. Steene passed away on the 26th of August, 1931. Those left to mourn the loss of a loving mother are: Clara (Theodore Tieman) and Bennie of Minnesapolis; Emma (Mrs. James Sorenson) of Maple Plain, Minn; Andrew of Lyle and Bert and Gladys at home. She also leaves eight grand children and two great-grand children, besides nephews and nieces.

In the year 1893 the family emigrated to America and settled in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, where she continued to make her home.

She was a kind and loving mother, and a good friend and neighbor, and she will be greatly missed. She passed away, fully conscious that she was going home to her Heavenly Rest. Blessed be her memory!

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank all those who showed us much love and kindness at the time of the death of our beloved mother. We are very grateful for the beautiful flowers and the memorial wreaths; for the anthem by the choir and to Rev. Langehough for his words of comfort; and to all, who in any way expressed sympathy and rendered assistance.
