1892 Ole Helgeson 1957

Ole K. Helgeson, son of Knut and Anna Helgeson, was born June 22, 1892, in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin, the past 13 years.

He attended school in Dist. 10 Mower County, and was in service during World War I. His entire life was spent in farming in Lyle and Nevada Townships, having lived for the past 27 years on the farm south of Austin.

He was married to Clara M. Hanson, May 23, 1923, at Adams, Minn. To this union, four sons were born: Ervin, Glen, Wayne and James. He was a devoted husband and loving father. His main interests were his family and home.

He passed away suddenly Nov. 14, at the age of 65 years, 4 months, 23 days, of a heart attack.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Clara; four sons, Ervin of Glenville, Wayne of Austin Rt. 3, Glen and James, at home; five grandchildren; one brother, Alfred of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Gertie) Klawitter, Los Angeles, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Haas, Lyle, Mrs. Conrad (Hazel) Halvorson, Taopi; several nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbors and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, the Rev. Arthur L. Swenson officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove Cemetery, Lyle, with the Worlein Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A short service for immediate relatives was held at the Richard Westby Memorial Chapel of St. Olaf Church. Pallbearers were Homer Warrington, Richard Magee, Lee F. Machacek, Vance B. Hotson, John Madson and Harry Dockstader.

Relatives and friends attending the service came from Austin, Adams, Lyle, Rose Creek, Mason City, Minneapolis, Albert Lea, Rock Falls, Glenville, Taopi, London, Otranto and Myrtle.
